Tarmac is built to withstand the wear and tear of continual vehicular tyre movements and the weight of vehicles being parked on it. However, over time and due to exposure of weather extremes, ie cold, heat and sunlight, the tarmac/asphalt can expand/contract and eventually erode. Cracks and pitting can form which may require the area to be repaired or totally resurfaced depending on the amount of damage to the tarmac.
